Brisk Amble
The turning spring to summer afternoon,
where apple and cherry blossoms bloom
Fleeting sun kissed dreams
wash the rolling hills that spill
Emerald sea of grass ocean waves
undulating in a swirling breeze
A living carpet green that
whispers beneath the trees
Down the dell and to the glade
in blackbird song thrush serenade
Flocked birds swim, the warm west wind
glide their realm in swoop and skim
Dart in and out, in between
trees full leaf, of new fresh green
in the brier the rustlings stir
creatures slink, seen flash of fur
Tumbling cloud, on clear azure
Catching breath, air clean and pure
To the summit, inspiration point
panorama meets eye, as to anoint
Across the miles of patchwork field
bounty grows, her feast to yield
Far off horizon, sweeps to the sea
Existence witnessed here to be
So to turn, to homeward bound
full blessed of all, my eye has found
Descending from the crest of hill
with ease the downward join the spill
Elated as the walking would
endorphins flooded to the blood
Exercised both, body and mind
this trail to walk again, Must find
